Peer: It's time to end bone care 'logjam'

HEALTH Secretary Wes Streeting has been urged to "break the logjam" so the government can follow through on its promise to deliver bone care clinics.

Lord Kevin Shinkwin has called on the Health Secretary to roll out specialist bone clinics

Mr Streeting backed the Sunday Express Better Bones campaign ahead of the 2024 election and promised to roll out specialist facilities to every part of England by 2030.

The clinics, known as fracture liaison services, check patients for potentially fatal bone disease when they first show up with a break.

But campaigners have been dismayed at the lack of progress since Labour came to power and warned "lives are being lost". Now, peer Kevin Shinkwin, who was born with osteogenesis imperfecta — also known as brittle bone disease — has called on the Health Secretary to roll out FLS.
