Blues bounce back to sting Bees with towering Tarkowski

Brentford - 1

Everton - 3

They still haven’t forgiven him for forcing his way out of their club to join Burnley in 2016.

This morning they will like him even less after the 30-year-old headed home Everton’s crucial second goal in what was their first victory of the season.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin were also on target for the visitors, while Mathias Jensen scored for Brentford.

Everton were deserving of their win, which finally gave a lift-off to their campaign.

There were plenty of positives with Doucoure looking sharp just behind Beto, who looked lively himself, and not least with Calvert-Lewin finding the back of the net with a tidy finish 10 minutes after coming on.

Calvert-Lewin said: “When I came off against Aston Villa my own fans booed me off. Today they cheered me. I’ll relish this and take the rest with a pinch of salt.”
