Angry Tories step up Gray criticism
Sunday Express
|March 05, 2023
Former Whitehall official Jill Rutter said: “She has let down quite a lot of civil servants.”
SUE GRAY was last night accused of confirming fears that the civil service is dominated by Left-wingers.
Ms Gray, who led the Covid Partygate inquiry into Boris Johnson, sparked outrage last week after resigning from her Cabinet Office role to be Sir Keir Starmer’s Chief of Staff.
Ms Rutter, who served as a private secretary at the Treasury, added: “A lot of ministers have quite a prejudice against the civil service. They think they are a bunch of closet Blairites and things like that. The worry is this move will reinforce that impression.”
