The monarch showed his love for Scotland by posing in his rarely seen library at Balmoral Castle, to celebrate the life and legacy of Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns.
His Majesty beamed as he posed in a red, blue and green kilt - made from the King Charles III tartan - and a sporran, in the image taken by royal photographer Millie Pilkington.
