Poynton triple up on silverware success

A SUCCESSFUL season for Poynton Football Club saw their first team, reserve team and veterans team all pick up silverware.
The first Team were crowned winners of the Cheshire Football League Premier Division for only the second time in history and became the first team to win the league back-to-back since it was split into three divisions in 2014.
Going into the last game of the season the first team only needed a point against Middlewich Town to secure the league title.
Ahead of the game the side found out that Middlewich had conceded the fixture meaning that Poynton were awarded three points and the league title ahead of Eagle Sports FC who still had a chance to win the league.
Joint manager Duncan Warrender expressed: “Compared the last season we have found different ways to win matches, and this has helped us stay top of the league for most of the season.”
