A rare 10am kick-off saw the new season get underway against League One Stenhousemuir-who won all four matches between the sides a season previous.

But it was the very new look Sons who started the brighter, with a quick move started by St Mirren loanee Carrick McAvoy setting Tony Wallace free-but his cross was plucked out the air by Darren Jamieson before Ally Roy could pounce.
On his return to the club seven years after a loan spell, Roy looked sharp early - neatly opening up space before flashing wide from the edge of the area.
