A poor second-half display cost Dumbarton as their League Two rivals showed off their greater cohesion in the early weeks of pre-season with a comfortable win.

Double from Carrick is enough for Binos

After their opening defeat, it was straight back into action for Dumbarton as some of the same faces from the Stenny defeat sprinkled in with fresh trialists keen to earn a deal at the Rock for next season.

With 60 minutes in the bag already, Sons were almost caught napping early against League Two rivals Stirling Albion - as Dale Hilson just missed touching in a ball across goal.

Tony Wallace then went close with an effort from the edge of the area for Sons, but found that the ball just wouldn’t sit for him - skewing wide of target.
