Unison action over'pitiful’three per cent pay offer
Council workers in Stirling are to be balloted over potential strike action in a dispute over pay.
Unison announced this week that it will ballot its members across each of Scotland's 32 local authorities over pay, with the latest offer deemed ‘pitiful’ by union chiefs. COSLA, the body who negotiate pay deals on behalf of local authorities in Scotland, made an offer of a three per cent pay increase for council workers which was condemned by the union.
A COSLA spokesperson this week said: “In February, following early negotiations, COSLA made an offer of three per cent to the Scottish Joint Council (SJC) unions representing the majority of the Scottish local government workforce.
