Eleven Years of Transformational Governance: A Journey of Vision, Vikas, and Viksit Bharat Under PM Modi
State Times
|May 29, 2025
On May 26, 2014, a defining chapter in India's political and developmental history was penned when Narendra Modi took oath as the 14th Prime Minister of India. With a historic and unprecedented mandate from the people, his elevation marked a new era of decisive leadership. Now, as Prime Minister Modi completes 11 years in office, India stands as a transformed nation - economically empowered, globally respected, digitally connected, and socially uplifted. These years have not only redefined India's governance framework but also laid the foundation for achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
From the very beginning of his tenure, PM Modi declared himself the Pradhan Sevak of the people, emphasizing a governance model rooted in inclusivity and service. His leadership mantra - Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas - has served as the guiding light for numerous reforms and initiatives aimed at holistic national development. The transformation under his leadership can be seen across every sphere - from the rise in India's global standing to the upliftment of the poor, from the digital revolution to infrastructure expansion, and from empowering farmers to ensuring national security.
Perhaps the most remarkable testimony to PM Modi's leadership is India's rise as the fourth-largest economy in the world, surpassing Japan with a nominal GDP of approximately USD 4 trillion. This is a monumental leap from around USD 2.1 trillion in 2014 and reflects consistent development, prudent economic management, and forward-looking policies over the last 11 years.
Launched in 2014, the Make in India initiative played a crucial role in boosting manufacturing and foreign direct investment (FDI), which attracted over USD 667 billion between April 2014 and March 2024. Complementing this, the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) campaign, launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, pushed domestic manufacturing, with a 720 lakh crore economic package targeting key sectors like defence, healthcare, infrastructure, and agriculture.
