RAJYA SABHA PASSES BILL FOR READJUSTMENT OF REPRESENTATION OF SCHEDULED TRIBES IN GOA

Both houses stand adjourned to reconvene again at 2 p.m. now. This follows protests from Members of the Opposition in both houses seeking a discussion, among other things, about their concerns relating to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Parliament has barely functioned in the past couple of weeks due to continuous protests over the Special Intensive Revision exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission in Bihar.

The Lok Sabha is set for a packed agenda on Monday (August 11, 2025), with multiple committee reports, ministerial statements, and significant legislative business scheduled for discussion.

On the legislative front, the House will take up three significant bills for consideration and passing. First is the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, introduced by Mansukh Mandaviya. This Bill seeks to provide for the development and promotion of sports, welfare measures for sportspersons, and ethical practices based on the Olympic and Paralympic Charters. Second is the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, also to be moved by Mansukh Mandaviya. This amendment aims to amend the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022.

Third is the Indian Ports Bill, 2025, to be moved by Sarbananda Sonowal. This Bill aims to consolidate port laws, promote integrated port development, establish State Maritime Boards and a Maritime State Development Council, manage environmental and security issues, and provide mechanisms for resolving port-related disputes.

As Opposition walks out, Mr. Nadda condemns the behaviour of the Opposition.

We have repeatedly said we were ready for discussion. We discussed Operation Sindoor. The government was able to put the facts clearly in front of the people. The opposition couldn't reply, he adds.

"I say this with sadness that those who were claiming to be champions of Manipur have voted against Manipur," he says noting the votes against Manipur Budget.
