Craig-y-Nos Castle in the Swansea Valley is said to be haunted

- PORTIA JONES Lifestyle Writer

EVER witnessed something that gave you chills or heard a strange noise in the dead of night and dismissed it as your imagination?

If you’re brave enough to face the unknown, why not test your nerve by spending the night in one of Wales’ haunted hotels, castles, or inns?

These places are steeped in history, and countless guests have reported unsettling encounters over the years with phantom footsteps, ghostly figures and eerie whispers in the dark.

It's no surprise that paranormal investigators from far and wide flock here, hoping to catch a glimpse of the ghosts said to roam these historic sites.

One place in particular is worth spending the night if you love spooky surroundings - Craig y Nos Castle. This prestigious wedding venue is also one of the most haunted castles in Wales, offering both accommodation for wedding guests and ghost hunters who want a bed and breakfast stay.

The Castle and Country Park sits alongside the upper River Tawe on the edge of the Black Mountains, and there are a number of local walks directly from your room at the castle.

It's open to the public at all times throughout the year, and admission is free, The castle has two car parks with free parking for visitors and guests.
