Store robber was found hiding in attic

A MAN wanted for robbing a convenience store was found hiding in an attic - and refused to come down to waiting officers until he had finished smoking his crack pipe.

Police had been looking for Daniel Niewiadomski after he brandished a wine bottle at a shopkeeper and assaulted him while his accomplice Samantha Turner held the shop door open for him.

Ian Wright, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that on October 16 this year Niewiadomski entered the Nisa shop attached to the Texaco garage on Llangyfelach Road in Treboeth and began putting items from the shelves inside his jacket.

He said Turner remained at the door to the shop, holding it open.

The court heard that the member of staff on duty challenged Niewiadomski and a "physical altercation" took place during which the defendant picked up and brandished a bottle of wine and claimed to have a knife.
