Lit candle blamed for home blaze

SEVERE damage has been caused to a house by a blaze which took place late on Sunday night.

The incident happened in the Port Tennant area of Swansea at 10.33pm.

Three fire crews rushed to the scene to bring the flames under control at the semidetached home.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service described the fire as "well developed" upon its arrival.

Bystanders were concerned that people were inside the house, leading to a search of the property being carried out by firefighters who made their way through rooms using breathing apparatus sets.

Fortunately, no casualties were found within the house. After extinguishing the fire, an investigation was undertaken, which identified that it was caused accidentally by a candle burning in the property.
