Ex-boss reveals mixed emotions over Swans

AS STORIES go, it doesn’t get much more bonkers than the year The Swans were sold for a quid - not once, but twice, in four short months.

The man who played a central role in what was one of the most turbulent times in the history of the club was Mike Lewis.

Now, for the first time, Mike has gone ‘on the record’ to talk frankly about his time with The Swans on the Good Evening Swansea podcast hosted by father and son Anthony and Jack O'Connell.

Mike has written a book called The Trains Don’t Stop There Anymore: The Life Story of a Footballing Nomad ~ but he has (until now) steered clear of putting his career with the Swans under the media microscope.

It was in March 1998 that Mike Lewis (a man who cheerfully admits he’s had more clubs than Tiger Woods) joined Swansea City as commercial director.

In his time, he oversaw a dramatic increase in commercial income, came up with the off-the-wall idea to name the club mascot Cyril The Swan, and paid a pound to buy the club from Neil McClure and Ninth Floor plc.
