Outcry as mountain is left covered in 'river' of rubbish

A BEAUTIFUL South Wales mountain has been left covered in a “river” of rubbish which can be seen from miles away.
Fly-tipping on the Bwlch, Rhondda
Locals have been left disgusted by the sight which has appeared after “tonnes” of waste was dumped down the side of the Bwlch mountain, near Treorchy, in recent days.
Local travel blogger Nathan Dixon, who captured drone footage showing the scale of the waste left at the beauty spot, said the rubbish is visible from “three to five miles away”.
Nathan, who grew up in the Rhondda, said there was “so much” waste at the top off the mountain just past a layby that it seems as though multiple trucks have been used to tip it over the side.
“Because of the weather now, it's just starting to spread and is going all over the mountain,” he added.
The rubbish has been dumped on private land owned by local farmers who Nathan described as “distraught” about what has happened.
There are fears that the wildlife and also the farm’s sheep could come to harm as a result of the fly-tipping.
Farmer Katie Davies said the mess “keeps me up at night” after it was dumped down the mountainside where her sheep graze.
Katie's family has owned land on the mountain for 90 years and she says the cleanup could cost thousands of pounds.
She said it was not the first time waste had been dumped on the land.
Katie said: “I’m extremely frustrated and upset. It’s just devastating. It’s horrendous. It's really heartbreaking. I need a long-term solution, I can’t keep doing this.”
