Former Mendip golfer Patience Rhodes has been selected by England Golf to take part in the European Ladies' Team Championship.

Rhodes and Xanh selected for nation

Rhodes is one of six players named in the England squad for the championship which takes place at Golf de Chantilly between July 8-12.

The 21-year-old currently studies at Arizona State University and has enjoyed top ten finishes in the Notre Dame Clover Cup and Darius Rucker Intercollegiate events this year. She also finished second in the PING ASU Invitational and NCAA Gold Canyon Regional, whilst also making her debut appearance in the 2025 August National Women's Amateur.

Rhodes was part of the Great Britain & Ireland 2024 Curtis Cup winning team, and also helped England to silver and bronze in the 2023 and 2024 European Ladies' Team Championship respectively.

This week, Rhodes has been part of the Great Britain & Ireland side competing in The Vagliano Trophy at Royal Hague Golf & Country Club in the Netherlands.

When in the UK, Rhodes plays at Burnham & Berrow alongside clubmate Davina Xanh who has also been selected for the England team.

Xanh, a student at California State University Fullerton, has enjoyed recent success after winning the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews, before agonisingly being beaten into second at the English Women's Stroke Play Championship.

■MENDIP Captains Jack Hayes and Louise Scott held a very successful Charity Day to raise funds for their chosen charity, Mind in Somerset.

A full entry list of 144 players, with a large number of visitors, competed in a Shambles Texas Scramble on a hot sunny day with a couple of heavy showers thrown in.
