South Shields manager Ian Watson hailed an 'outstanding performance' from his players as they triumphed in adversity to claim a narrow win at Curzon Ashton.
With a delayed arrival in the North West and treacherous conditions battering the Tameside Stadium, the current National League North leaders produced a clinical first-half performance and got their rewards by taking a two-goal lead into the final 20 minutes.
Paul Blackett opened the scoring on 18 minutes as he made the most of a Cedwyn Scott pass that was described as 'world class' by Watson before former Sunderland youngster Caden Kelly provided a stunning finish to double the lead midway through the second half.
