Green light for a life no longer spent waiting in car parks

There is a sign you occasionally see in the back window of family cars up and down the land which reads 'Dad's Taxi' or 'Mum's Taxi'.

You may spot them in vehicles parked outside dance classes or alongside council football pitches as their owners sit and wait for their non-fee paying fares to show up.

It is not clear whether the drivers themselves place these notices as a way of showing solidarity with other parents or if the passengers buy them as Father's and Mother's Day presents in an unsubtle way of establishing who is really in charge of a family's social time.
