Campaigners peg out two-child benefit cap protest

Antipoverty campaigners in the North East have joined forces to send a hard-hitting visual message on the urgency of scrapping the two-child benefit cap in next week's Budget.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to scrap the rule on Wednesday - with the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) claiming that, for every day the limit remains in place, 109 children are pulled into poverty across the country.

To hammer home their call, campaigners loaded a washing line at Sunderland-based baby bank Love, Amelia with109 baby grows.
