Homes plan for pub and car park where woman was killed
Sevenoaks Chronicle
|July 10, 2025
A POPULAR pub near Sevenoaks, where a woman was shot dead in the car park, could soon be demolished and turned into new homes.
A planning application has been lodged to replace The Three Horseshoes, in Main Road, Knockholt with a new development of seven dwellings.
The pub has been marketed since January 2024 on the basis of either a lease or a freehold sale. Despite three reductions in price, there has been no interest that has proceeded beyond initial expressions and viewings, the planning statement reads.
This comes after the death of Lisa Smith who was shot dead outside the pub on Valentine's Day. Edward Smith is suspected of shooting his wife.
Smith, 43, had fallen into the water below the Dartford Crossing and his body was recovered from the River Thames on March 7. An investigation into both deaths is being led by the coroner.
The plans, submitted by Robinson Escott Planning LLP on behalf of its clients Mr and Mrs G Thomas, explains how the retention of the existing building and conversion into residential use is 'nonviable' because of the 'high conversion costs' and the 'very limited flatted market locally'.
