Proposed Mortal Ash Hill A18 speed limit cut shelved

PLANS to reduce the speed limit at Mortal Ash Hill, Scunthorpe, have been shelved but a new 40mph speed limit will go ahead for a B-road near Kirton in Lindsey.

North Lincolnshire Council had proposed reducing the speed limit on the A18 in the Scunthorpe area between the 40mph approach to the roundabout with Gate A of the steelworks, and to the Briggate Lodge roundabout with the A15.

It would have been reduced from the national speed limit, including 70mph for the dual carriageway section, to 50mph.

But a legally required consultation has seen significant opposition to the move. There were 64 written objections made to the proposed traffic regulation order (TRO).
