MELANIE ONN 'DEEPLY CONCERNED' BY REDUNDANCIES
A LOCAL MP has requested the criteria for what is deemed a credible bid for Lindsey Oil Refinery is published.
Melanie Onn MP (Labour Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes) has written to the Government and the independent Official Receiver to make the call for “transparency and certainty for everyone involved.”
Ms Onn said she was “deeply concerned” by the announcement on September 30 of 125 redundancies at Lindsey Oil Refinery.
Although redundancies were announced for a third of the workforce and the refinery is being wound down, talks continue with a number of possible buyers.
An Insolvency Service spokesperson has said the Official Receiver is committed to exploring the best possible outcome. All bids are also being considered with care and on an equal footing.
Ms Onn said she was “deeply concerned” by the redundancies and spoke shortly after with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to clarify the situation. The Official Receiver took the decision independently to announce redundancies to give employees as much notice as possible while the sales process concludes.
