£2,500 bill deal for pylon homes

Thousands of households within half a kilometre of new or upgraded electricity transmission infrastructure could receive £250 off their yearly bill.

Under the plan, local people would receive a £125 discount every six months.

New overhead power lines, pylons and substations are viewed as critical across Britain, to upgrade ageing electricity networks, connect up new wind and solar farms, nuclear power plants and large scale battery storage, and reinforce the grid to cope with the planned rise in electric heat pumps and car charging in homes.
