Will blood thinners help to get my pulse rate back to normal?

I went for an NHS health check, and the machine couldn't take my blood pressure, which the nurse discovered was because I had a very irregular pulse, which really surprised me as I've had no palpitations at all. I then had an ECG, which showed I have atrial fibrillation, and I've now been put on blood thinners. Will this correct my pulse rate back to normal?

Normally, the heart chambers beat in an organised fashion, with the upper chambers, or atria, contracting first, pushing blood into the lower ventricles, which then contract, pushing the blood into the pulmonary artery and the aorta, all controlled by electrical impulses within the heart muscle.
