WHY DID BBC NOT PULLE PLUG ON VILE CHANTS?

THE BBC must give a explanation of full why it broadcast a shocking antisemitic outburst during its Glastonbury coverage, senior politicians and Jewish groups have now demanded.

Both the broadcaster and the music festival faced widespread condemnation yesterday after punk act Bob Vylan led chants of "death, death to the IDF [Israel Defence Forces]".

Amid a probe by Avon and Somerset Police, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said: “There is no excuse for this kind of appalling hate speech. The BBC needs to explain how these scenes came to be broadcast.”

Tory Shadow Foreign Secretary Dame Priti Patel also condemned the BBC for allowing “hate-fuelled content” that risks “legitimising and normalising those views in society”.

Dame Priti told the Daily Express: “No taxpayerfunded broadcaster should give a national platform to incitement, and yet the BBC let this happen. That decision has consequences.

“Where is the professionalism and editorial integrity at the BBC?

“Platforming performers who glorify terrorism and encourage violence against the democratic rule of law has shown that their integrity has clearly gone.

“The leadership of the BBC must provide a full public apology for their actions, provide a full explanation of how this was allowed to happen, who signed it off, and explain what will change to ensure such hate-filled broadcasting at the BBC never happens again.”
