SCOTLAND’S oldest privately owned distillery has announced its latest release.
Loch Maberry: Stories of Bladnoch, Chapter Two, is the second instalment in a limited edition series of single malt whiskies.
They have been created to celebrate those individuals who have a deep affinity with the Bladnoch distillery in Dumfries & Galloway.
Loch Maberry is the source of the River Bladnoch, which provides the water that has sustained production since 1817.
Chapter Two highlights Bladnoch’s historical significance, revealing a tale of reconnection with Elizabeth Cobbett, the great-great-granddaughter of Thomas McClelland.
It was he who, with his older brother John, founded the distillery over 200 years ago.
In the 1990s, Elizabeth made a brief visit to the site and this was enough to spark her interest in reviving its fortunes which, two decades later, came to fruition.
Guided by master blender Dr Nick Savage, Elizabeth nosed and tasted a selection of samples before choosing Cask 450/2006 for Loch Maberry: Stories of Bladnoch, Chapter Two.
