GOLDEN boy Matt Weston hated history as a school kid but had no problems creating it on the biggest night of his life.

- CHARLIE BENNETT in Cortina

The skeleton superstar became the first British double gold medallist at the same Winter Olympics with a performance for the ages to clinch mixed team gold alongside Tabitha Stoecker.

In temperatures well below freezing, he lit up the Cortina Sliding Centre to claw back a daunting 0.30secs deficit in the final and instantly become a national treasure.

Sports Personality of the Year? You might already have your winner.

"I'm extremely proud of what I've been able to achieve in the past couple of days," Weston said.

"I'm a bit more in control of my emotions this time.

"I'm just absolutely over the moon. I'm still buzzing and I don't know what's next to be honest. Probably the pub." Well, if there is anyone that deserves a drink, it's the 28-year-old.
