Two Russian assassins of security chief hunted down

UKRAINE'S security agency said it tracked down and killed Russian agents suspected of murdering one of its senior officers in Kyiv.

The SBU said the pair were eliminated after they resisted arrest.

A video released by the agency showed two bodies on the ground.

The agency said a man and a woman were suspected to be involved in Thursday’s assassination of Ivan Voronych, an SBU colonel, in a bold daylight attack caught on surveillance cameras.

Media reports claimed Colonel Voronych was involved in covert operations in Kremlin-occupied territories of Ukraine and helped organise Kyiv’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk region last year.

The suspects tried to “lay low” after the shooting, the SBU said yesterday.
