Trump: I'm not thinking about Elon... the man has lost his mind

DONALD Trump declared open war on Elon Musk as he branded the billionaire “a man who’s lost his mind”.

It came less than 24 hours after the world’s richest man claimed the US president’s name appears in the FBI’s Jeffrey Epstein files, alleging it was why they had not been made public.

Hope of reconciliation between the pair was obliterated yesterday after Mr Musk hinted at a truce, only for Mr Trump to respond with full-scale personal attacks.

The president said: “I’m not even thinking about Elon. The poor guy’s got a problem. I won't be speaking to him for a while, I guess, but I wish him well.”

Asked if he would accept Mr Musk’s call, the president said: “You mean the man who has lost his mind?”

It follows the X boss’s accusation against the US president on Thursday, shared directly on the platform. He wrote: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

The allegation sent shockwaves through Washington, plunging the White House into crisis mode. There is no evidence Trump was involved in any wrongdoing concerning Epstein.

An insider said: “You’ve got the world's richest man with access to explosive material, a platform to drop it on 185 million people, if the allegations are true. That's not just dangerous. It's a nightmare.”
