The sublime & the ridiculous

LEIGHTON CLARKSON has described Aberdeen team-mate Kevin Nisbet's wonder winner against Hibs as "ridiculous".

The striker came back to haunt his former club on Saturday with a contender for goal of the season.

With the game at Pittodrie goalless and 80 minutes on the clock, Hibees defender Rocky Bushiri headed Graeme Shinnie's cross out only as far as Nisbet on the edge of the box. Backpedalling, he took the ball down on his chest and lobbed a superb volley into the top corner in one action.

The 1-0 victory moved the Dons level on points with their third-placed visitors, whose 17-match unbeaten Premiership came to an abrupt run.

Clarkson, right, said: "I was right behind it and the way he chested it and managed to get a good contact with the outside of his boot — it was ridiculous, a joke of a goal.

"It was a game we felt we needed to win.

"We dominated throughout and they tried to play on transitions and set-pieces, which we dealt with for large parts."
