Street shut after blaze engulfs city centre hotel

A HUGE fire in the centre of Glasgow is not being treated as suspicious after firefighters finally extinguished it yesterday.

Firefighters tackling the blaze on Saturday night

Hotel guests and a soup kitchen had to be evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze at the Revolver Hotel on Virginia Street.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent seven fire engines and two high-reach appliances when the alarm was raised at 6.20pm on Saturday.

Fire crews were met with a “well-developed” blaze on the top floor of a four-storey building.
