Spirit-ed plan to revive our rural economy

NEW plans have been revealed to convert a former oil depot into a craft whisky distillery and visitor destination.

If successful, the project will provide a major economic boost for the Argyll and Bute region.

Located in Ardrishaig, it also pays a respectful nod to the area’s whisky-producing history.

The Glenfyne Distillery was previously situated in the village before closing its doors in 1937.

But now hopes are high that there could be a much-needed revival of the craft with the Ardrishaig Distillery.

The oil depot is on Ardrishaig Pier but has lain dormant and contaminated for decades.

Inspired by the village’s marine heritage, the distillery will incorporate a courtyard, tasting rooms, viewing terrace, and a greenhouse building overlooking Loch Gilp.
