SERGIO STILL TALKING UP WILD-CARD HOPES

Garcia insists form and not politics will decide his fate

SERGIO GARCIA is still discussing a Ryder Cup wild card with Luke Donald.

And the LIV Golf star claims he has been assured any decision will be based on his form and not politics.

The Spaniard, 45, is Europe’s record points scorer at the biennial tournament with 28.5 in his 10 appearances.

But his inclusion would be hugely controversial given he resigned from the DP World Tour and was the last to pay his fines for joining Saudi-backed league LIV.

The 2017 Masters champion also launched into an astonishing rant about the DP World Tour at the 2022 BMW International in Munich after learning he had been banned.

He won LIV Hong Kong in March but, after finally paying his fines’ and serving his suspensions to be eligible for the team, he needed a big performance at The Open.
