Scotland put on 'high risk' wildfire alert

Scottish Daily Express

MOST of Scotland will remain at “high risk” from wildfires until Monday, the fire and rescue service has warned.

- By Sarah Ward

The entire country was yesterday put on a “very high danger” alert until tomorrow, amid forecasts of even warmer weather in the coming days and tinder-dry conditions.

The risk is graded as “extreme” in the north, before being extended to the whole of the mainland on Saturday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) issued the warnings in co-operation with the Scottish Wildfire Forum (SWF).

They urged people who live in the countryside or are visiting to exercise caution and use common sense.
