Scorchio as Scotland basks in the sunshine

THE sensational spring heatwave is set to once again see Scotland record the UK's top temperatures.

And it is the hills and glens of the Highlands which will get the best of the warmth through the rest of the week before the heatwave ends at the weekend.

High pressure continues to dominate our weather, though there are signs that it will begin slipping south over the next few days.

Gillian Smart, the BBC's weather presenter, said Scots should prepare for 68F (20C) again today before the north east of the country hits the magical 70F (21C) tomorrow.

Looking ahead to today, she told viewers: "It's quite a chilly start to tomorrow. A grey start for many too.

"But it is an improving story - that mist and low cloud burning back to the east coast."

She added: "Plenty of sunshine coming through, though it will remain grey in places near the North Sea coasts and for Shetland.
