Sarwar: I swear it's an SNP ferry fiasco

SCOTTISH Labour leader Anas Sarwar has launched an astonishing attack on the SNP’s handling of an under-threat state-owned shipyard.

Mr Sarwar was discussing the uncertain future of Ferguson Marine, with the Port Glasgow-based yard nationalised in 2019, struggling to deliver two new CalMac car ferries first ordered back in 2015.

Mr Sarwar compared its plight to the successes of two BAE yards on the Clyde, Govan and Scotstoun, which specialise in building complex warships and secured huge contracts with foreign governments.

Last year, SNP ministers promised to invest more than £14million in modern equipment to help the much smaller site at Ferguson secure new orders.
