Reeves' emergency budget hurts us all

WHEN she unveiled her budget last October, Rachel Reeves promised that it was a one-off. So her appearance last week was technically to deliver a "Spring Statement". That fooled no one. It was to all intents and purposes an emergency budget and was urgently required because her first fiscal reset had been an unmitigated disaster.

It followed Labour's usual pattern. It increased taxes, borrowing and public spending. And it tanked the economy, prompting the Office for Budget Responsibility to halve its growth prediction for the UK.

The independent forecaster concluded that real household disposable income will be lower by 2029-the "bulk of this" due to Labour's budget.

This dire outlook for the economy is also an inevitable result of Labour's idiotic decision to increase the amount employers pay in National Insurance contributions.

Just last week, we saw the restaurant group Six by Nico slash jobs, blaming Rachel Reeves for a decision they didn't want to make.
