SCOTLAND captain Rachel Malcolm says she has seen “humungous growth” in women’s rugby since joining the national team — and is determined to keep that going by having a successful World Cup.

SCOTLAND captain Rachel Malcolm says she has seen “humungous growth” in women’s rugby since joining the national team — and is determined to keep that going by having a successful World Cup.

Malcolm will lead the Scots into battle tomorrow afternoon against close rivals Wales in their opening game in Pool B.

The outcome of the match at Salford City Stadium in Manchester will go a long way to deciding who qualifies for the quarterfinals, and Malcolm says the team will be fighting for all Scotswomen.

“Something that we take as a big responsibility on our shoulders is that we represent Scotland women of past, of present, and of future,” she said.

“And we know how big an impact what we do can have on those women of the future.
