LAWRENCE SHANKLAND admits Hearts’ scintillating start to this season has exceeded all expectations after last term's struggles in the bottom six.
The captain looked like leaving the Jambos under freedom of contract in the summer before talks with incoming manager Derek McInnes helped convince him to commit to another three years at Tynecastle.
After being part of a Hearts team that spent some of last season bottom of the league before going on to finish an underwhelming seventh, Shankland did not anticipate being eight points clear at the top after nine games this campaign.
