Nats ‘neglected’ vital road link to Northern Ireland

A VITAL road that links Scotland to Northern Ireland has been left “neglected” by the SNP Government as a campaign was launched to upgrade it quickly.

The A75 carries traffic from the M6/M74 to the Cairnryan ferry port near Stranraer and is used by haulage firms and tourists travelling across the Irish Sea.

But it has been left in a state of disrepair under the Nats. Numerous promises have been made to improve the route by dualling it but much like similar vows made about the A9 and A96, they have never been kept.

Urgent meetings have been sought with Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop and her officials by business leaders, with Stena Line, P&O Ferries and Belfast Harbour all complaining about the infrastructure.
