Martin: I enjoy the stick, in a perverse way
Scottish Daily Express
|September 25, 2025
RUSSELL MARTIN claims he has taken "perverse enjoyment" from the vitriol he has received from fans during his rocky start as Rangers manager.
Now he wants his besieged side to get a kick out of the Europa League, which starts tonight against Genk.
Martin succeeded in staring down furious protests at Ibrox last Saturday as Gers beat Hibs to clinch a place in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals.
Around 1,500 seething supporters had gathered outside the stadium to demand the 39-year-old's sacking.
But Martin, above, insists he doesn't mind being public enemy No.1 in Govan.
And he hopes his players can also rise above adversity when they take on their Belgian visitors tonight.
