Iranian Embassy hero puts medals up for sale

Acting Warrant Officer David Beddow was one of 32 Special Air Service commandos who stormed the London building on May 5 1980 to end the captives’ six-day ordeal.

He was part of a small team that entered the South Kensington embassy from a fourth-floor skylight after letting off a stun grenade.

Commandos went room to room, killing five of the six Iranian gunmen and freeing 24 hostages.

David went on to serve in the Parachute Regiment and two years later was part of a reserve SAS team in the Falklands War.

He is now selling his military medals, along with his SAS beret and belt and shoulder boards, for £12,000.
