MINISTERS often boasted about the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow in the weeks before it began taking patients on April 27, 2015.

This huge project had been many years in the making and by this late stage there were concerns being raised about the safety of the building’s systems.
Most damningly, tests carried out in December 2014 highlighted the presence of microbes in the water supply.
Yet despite this, ministers including John Swinney, Shona Robison and Nicola Sturgeon insisted that everything was fine.
