Grieving rugby star’s emotional swims to remember wife Jenny

The 60-year-old says it has brought him comfort and allows him to continue her legacy by embracing her love for swimming.

Jenny, 60, went missing in the water at Wardie Bay in Edinburgh just over a year ago - and her body was found in the area days later.

Speaking to BBC Breakfast yesterday, Scott said: "I miss Jenny daily. She had this amazing connection with people and maybe concentrated on other people's health rather than her own mental health. She was fit and active and wanted people to enjoy life."

The couple believed in the healing power of exercise and, during lockdown, they even led socially distanced aerobics classes outdoors for their neighbours. On the day of Jenny's disappearance last September, she had been visited by a mental health practitioner after her depression took a turn for the worse.

Scott had arranged to meet her in the afternoon for a swim in the Firth of Forth at her favourite spot in Wardie Bay, right.

He says, during her dark days, it was a "place of healing" for her - however, when he realised he couldn't see her and instead saw her buoyancy aid tethered nearby, he contacted the coastguard for help.
