Flood warnings are back

Thunderstorms spark fresh alert

SCOTS were warned about flooding last night after another day of heavy downpours and thunderstorms.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency had 15 flood alerts in place, along with one flood warning.

Residents along the River Dulnain, including the areas around Carrbridge and Dulnain Bridge, were told to “act now”.

Disruption

It came after a Met Office yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms covering much of Scotland expired at 9pm last night.

A further rain warning for the northwest Highlands was in place until 6am today.

The forecaster said: “Heavy rain may cause flooding and travel disruption.” Meanwhile, the cloudy conditions in Aberdeen forced an early end to a Red Arrows display above the city.
