Families demand answers to Chinook crash

MORE than 25,000 people have signed a petition demanding answers on the Chinook disaster as families of the 29 dead accuse the MoD of a “cover-up”.

A total of 25 senior intelligence experts and four special-forces crew died when the helicopter crashed on the Mull of Kintyre in 1994.

The chopper was en route from RAF Aldergrove in Northern Ireland to Fort George near Inverness on June 2 that year.

It was blamed on pilot error but that was overturned in 2011.

A BBC documentary last year, Chinook: Zulu Delta 576, revealed that files relating to the tragedy had been sealed by the Defence Ministry for 100 years. In a petition, the victims' families have called for the full release of all documents.
