Explosives hoard found at house after man's death

HUNDREDS of residents were evacuated after explosives were found in a dead recluse's house.

Bomb disposal teams raced to the home of war memorabilia fan John Nelson after IEDs like ones used to kill British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were discovered.

Army experts and Merseyside Police were yesterday still searching his home and garden for more of the DIY devices.

Some, including detonators, are said to date from the Second World War when Mr Nelson's dad was in the Home Guard.
