JOHN SWINNEY has been branded “desperate” after launching yet another bid to break up the UK, ahead of the Scottish Parliament election.

'Desperate' Swinney accused of hitting the indyref 'panic button'

The First Minister held a speech in May where he vowed to put Scottish independence at the forefront of his plans.

And he has now set out a “three-point plan” which he claims will secure his dream of Scexit.

The main aim is to win the next Holyrood election, despite the SNP winning the past two previous elections and failing to make any progress on another referendum.

He has been accused of pressing the independence “panic button” to win over voters who have abandoned his party due to almost two decades of incompetence.

It is unlikely that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer would give permission for another referendum due to him holding a huge majority.

Both Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon cited the 2014 vote as “once in a generation” but Mr Swinney has claimed that a generation has now passed after just 11 years.
