Evans returns to top form just in time for Wimbledon
DAN EVANS said his “emotional” home win against world No.13 Frances Tiafoe showed he was not “nuts” to continue playing tennis.
The ever-popular British No.6 believes his rediscovered form on the grass deserves a Wimbledon wild card when they are announced tomorrow.
Evans tumbled outside the world top 200 after failing to win at ATP Tour-level this year until getting a timely victory in the Netherlands last week.
Given a wild card for the HSBC Championships here at Queen's Club, the former world No.21 turned back the clock to beat the American Tiafoe 7-5 6-2 to reach the last 16.
It was his first top-20 win since he beat world No.12 Alex de Minaur at the 2023 Davis Cup.
