Chip shop fan names the perfect plaice

A FISH-and-chips devotee has spent more than a year and thousands of pounds on a painstaking quest to find the good, batter and best of our chippies.

Stephen Peel’s “chippy tour” has taken in 120 across the country in the past 15 months — and he hasn’t tired of them yet.

The 62-year-old set out to celebrate the iconic meal as many chip shops have been forced to close due to high costs.

He said: “I just love a traditional fish and chips — there’s nothing that beats it for me.”
